FLICKERWOOD YOUTH RODEO RULES

 

PLEASE REAED  -  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING & FOLLOWING THEM!

 

2011 - 2012 FLICKERWOOD YOUTH RODEO SERIES

GROUND RULES

 

1. The FLICKERWOOD RODEO SERIES will offer 6 rodeos and a 2-day final weekend rodeo (which will count for 2 rodeos) making a total of EIGHT (8) rodeos.

 

2. All CONTESTANTS (except Mutton Busters) will be required to purchase a FLICKERWOOD YOUTH RODEO MEMBERSHIP for $45.00 before competing in their second rodeo. The membership can be purchased at the 1st rodeo you compete in, but must be paid before you compete in your second rodeo. Families purchasing memberships for 3 or more children will pay $35.00 per contestant. Membership cards will be replaced @ $5.00 per card. NO GATE FEE WILL BE CHARGED FOR MEMBERS SHOWING MEMBERSHIP CARD AT GATE at future rodeos (GATE FEE WILL NOT BE REFUNDED FOR THE RODEO WHEN THE CARD IS PURCHASED)

NO POINTS WILL BE COUNTED UNTIL FYR MEMBERSHIP IS PAID!

 

3. CALL IN TIME AND PHONE NUMBER: Books will be open on the MONDAY prior to each rodeo at 2:00 p.m. and will remain open until 7:00 p.m. Telephone numbers for call-ins will be 573/243-3876 or 573/243-2055. Entries can be made for 3 contestants ONLY per call. Contestants will have the option of slack or performance on a first come first serve basis until each is filled. A waiting list will be used as needed for Bull Riding.   LATE CALL INS will be accepted ONLY on Tuesday between 7:30 am – 5:00 pm at 573/243-3876. There will be an additional $10.00 / participant charged for LATE CALL INS.

 

4. DRAW OUT: A contestant can draw-out by calling 573/243-3876 Thursday prior to the rodeo between 2:00 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.   If a contestant does not draw out & is a “No Show”, there will be a $10.00 fine accessed. The fine must be paid before the contestant can compete in the next rodeo

 

5. WESTERN ATTIRE REQUIRED: Long pants, long sleeved, collared shirt & western boots with a heel, cowboy hat or helmet.

 

6. YEAR END PRIZE LINE WILL BE 5 PLACES IN EACH EVENT DEPENDING ON PARTICIPATION IN EACH EVENT. Mutton Busting WILL NOT receive awards. ALL-AROUND SADDLES will be awarded to the TOP GIRL & TOP BOY competing in two or three events. Team roping points for ALL AROUND will be taken from highest placing in each rodeo.   Points will be accumulated as follows (by placing and not by money won):    

1st=10,   2nd=9,   3rd=8,   4th=7,   5th=6,   6th=5,   7th=4,   8th=3,   9th=2,   10th=1

 

7. ALL AROUND POINTS: Only 3 events may be used toward ALL AROUND points! The 3 events to be used must be declared before the 2nd rodeo! Contestants may compete in as many events as eligible, but only 3 declared events will be used to determine ALL AROUND.

 

8. FEES are to be paid aproximately ONE-HOUR prior to the slack or performance you are competing in.

The office will be open at 9:00am.

 

9. ALL CONTESTANTS must be 20 years or less on January 1, 2012 to compete in the FYR SERIES.

 

10. TEAM ROPERS will be allowed to enter three (3) times. The 3 teams can be made up of 2 youth contestants, and/or 1 youth contestant and 1 immediate family member (blood related or step parent) & 1 non-related adult. Only 2 loops can be used. Stripping chute gate will be left open. Team Roping entry fees must be paid by the team.  Team Roping will  be ONLY during slack.  There will be NO perf Team Roping.

 

11. BARREL RACE & POLE BENDING will be allowed an open gate on the way into the Arena, with a closed gate at the finish. Any contestant that loses their hat (not having a stampede string under their chin during competition) will be assessed a 2 second penalty.

 

12. CALF ROPERS & BREAKAWAY ROPERS will be allowed 2 loops if 2 ropes are carried, but stripping chute will be left open. Calf Ropers will run behind a barrier. Breakaway Ropers will run behind a score line.

 

13. A 45 SECOND CLOCK will be used on all livestock timed events.

 

14. RULES not covered under FYR ground rules will be in accordance with the NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RODEO ASSOCIATION.

 

15. ALL CONTESTANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A 2011 FLICKERWOOD ARENA LIABILITY RELEASE FORM. Any contestant 17 years of age and younger will be required to have a parent or guardian sign BEFORE competing.

 

16. STALLS - Overnight stalls can be reserved at call-in for $15.00/stall.  

 

17.   NO DOGS WILL BE ALLOWED AT ANY TIME IN THE ARENA BUILDING. ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASHES IN THE      TRAILER AREA.

 

18.   NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK IN THE ARENA AREA!
